IHL stands for international humanitarian law: these are the laws that are applied during times of armed conflict, or war. They seek justice for those crimes committed against people in times of chaos.
The focus of our IHL Action Campaign is torture in times of war. To get the information across, we have many parts to our Campaign, including participation in a district-wide health fair, a live museum, social media, and quizzes so that we understand the extent of the student population’s knowledge of IHL and the circumstances of armed conflict.
The quizzes will provide a creative way to give students base knowledge of what we will talk about at the live museum. We also are starting a pledge that the students will sign to vow that they will take what they learn from our outreach and spread the word about the injustices occurring against humans in times of crisis. Our goals with this project are to (1) educate the students and others who participate in our Campaign, and (2) bring an interactive, multifaceted Campaign.
