The IHL Team is happy to share some exciting news! Five IHL Action Campaign teams have been selected to attend the 3rd Annual IHL Youth Leadership Summit on June 12-14 in Washington, DC. This year we had 41 teams from 15 Regions participate in the program nation-wide, and 37 teams submitted entries to the Youth Leadership Summit. These teams submitted videos, skits, simulations, art displays and more that showcased their extensive knowledge of IHL and the creative ways in which they taught their peers about IHL, refugees, and gender. Our Selection Committee had an extremely difficult time making a decision after reviewing these proposals, but we are very excited to announce the teams of university and high school students that the Committee selected to join us in DC next month.
The five outstanding teams selected to attend the IHL Youth Leadership Summit are (in no particular order):
- Central Illinois Region, Bradley University
- Los Angeles Region, North High School
- Orange County Chapter, Oxford Academy
- Texas Gulf Coast Region, International British School
- Texas Gulf Coast Region, Dulles High School
The Selection Committee also recognizes the following five additional teams with Honorable Mention Awards for their IHL Action Campaigns’ accomplishments (in no particular order):
- Greater New York Region, Bayside High School Team
- Greater New York Region, Columbia University
- Los Angeles Region, SGPV High School
- Northwest Indiana Region, Valparaiso University
- Orange County Chapter, Segerstrom High School
We would also like to recognize and congratulate the IHL Action Campaign teams who were not selected to attend the IHL Youth Leadership Summit. Their excellent work contributed to the overall reach of the Campaign: over 54,000 people were directly reached through the campaigns, with 18,000 in-person reach and 36,000 online reach. A big thanks to the teams from the following Chapters: Western and Central New York Region, Cincinnati/Dayton Region, Greater New York Region, Eastern Pennsylvania Region, Orange County Chapter, Los Angeles Region, St. Louis Region, Cascades Region, Greater Miami and the Keys Chapter, Massachusetts Region, and Utah Region.
We were incredibly impressed by all of the work done as a part of this year’s IHL Action Campaign. We are so proud of each team’s commitment to teaching their peers about IHL, and thank them for their participation!
