From the first day of Raid Cross training, our Team at Oxford Academy in Orange Country, CA has engaged in an extremely rewarding experience coordinating our IHL Action Campaign. Our Raid Cross training exposed us to so much information that we had not known before. The concepts of IHL are incredibly important pieces of knowledge in understanding the way the world works and our attempts at maintaining order. Despite the large importance these concepts of International Humanitarian Law and International Justice hold in our society, students and even adults in the U.S.A. are not exposed to many basics of the system. Experiencing Raid Cross and putting together this Action Campaign has allowed our team to delve much deeper into these important global policies, and we hope that we will be able to spread the wealth of knowledge through our school’s Action Campaign.
Being a part of Oxford’s IHL Team has been really enjoyable for us as we have gotten to know a pretty awesome group of people who are all interested in learning more about global issues and spreading awareness. We are really excited to be carrying out the Action Campaign with such a dedicated, intelligent team, and know that no matter what, we’ll be able to create an IHL Action Campaign that inspires or sparks interest in some of the younger students in our schools. We are confident in our Team’s ability to provide an engaging and informative presentation about concepts of International Justice, and we are really excited to see our plans executed. Right now we are in the process of hammering out the small details of our project, but as each element of the Campaign is finalized, we can better visualize how our team will manage to carry out the project successfully.
Simply putting this activity together to expose students to such big picture issues at the young age of 12, 13, and 14 will be worth all the time we have put into creating this campaign. Being able to empathize with the humanitarian issues on a global stage is something that has to develop over time, but introducing these ideas and topics to students earlier on will only foster more awareness and concern about these issues. We are so proud to be a part of this effort to bring these topics to the attention of young students instead of letting these international guidelines and institutions go unnoticed. Hopefully all will go as planned, and we will deliver a very thought-provoking and engaging IHL Action Campaign.
